COREY BY COREY LYNN CALTER: SPRING 2013

February 8, 2013

NYFW has officially started which is always one of the first indications that the Spring season is upon us.  I actually saw a flowering tree yesterday on my neighborhood walk showing a slight glimmer towards the newness that will be coming forth in the next month as 2013 starts to get into a higher gear.

I know last year I shared with you a few projects that I had been working on one of which was the re-branding of Corey Lynn Calter’s Contemporary brand into what is now officially called COREY.  It was a big undertaking with a lot of different moving parts, but the new brand is gaining forward motion as it has officially launched to the public.

Take a look at the official advertising campaign for the new line featuring actress and muse, Nora Zehetner.  The collection and the creative of this campaign was inspired by the outsider artist, Henry Darger and his famous Vivian Girls.  Look him up, his story is fascinating.  Corey’s inspirations for her collections come from a vast source of knowledge on art and architecture from all over the world and throughout history and I’m always so intrigued to learn about her references when we first meet to discuss her inspirations for the season.  The child like nature of Henry’s work was a perfect inspiration for Corey’s exclusive prints for the season and the spirit of the Vivian Girls rang very true in model Nora.

For the re-brand, Corey also re-designed her website and incorporated a new Marketplace within the e-commerce portion of the site to include accessories and shoes that work back to her collection.  The idea is to sell merchandise that works back to the line while also supporting small independent designers that she believes in.  In addition, Corey has hand selected vintage pieces that she has drawn inspiration from over the years to sell on the site.  This is only the beginning for this new platform and I look forward to working more on this with her and building it into the vision that she has for the site.

So go check out the COREY website , take a look at the new Spring 2013 collection and look for the line in your nearest store.

Have a great weekend!
