A trend that was spotted at NYFW is seeing some momentum in the london shows.  “Puffer” material that was so popular last Fall in coat versions from Alexander Wang and Vera Wang, is getting a broader interpretation for Fall 2012.  Where last season it was used only in anorak and fur trim full body styles, this season we are starting to see the fabric used in dresses and tops as well as accessories.  Some designers are using it in more of a delicate way pairing it with feminine fabrications  while others are keeping it stark and in its its original utility form.

Burberry showed cropped silhouettes to punch up their “city meets country” girl.  Acne used the material in fascinating forward shapes while J W Anderson used the material to elicit a “straight jacket” type vibe.

I’m very interested to see how this trend translates into the interiors world…possibly as a surface texture in sculpture or art?

I expect to see more of this as London and the rest of the Europe shows unfold.  Stay tuned!
