AD CAMPAIGNS SHOW A B&W PERSPECTIVE FOR FALL 2012
Although it is over 100 degrees currently in Los Angeles and we are in the thick of summer, I know it is time to start gearing up for the Fall 2012 season. The September issues will be hitting our doorsteps any second and the season’s ad campaigns will overwhelm us as we try our best to make it through the magazines.
I had some time to look at all the campaigns this week on Fashionologie, and noticed a BIG trend in black and white imagery for several of the world’s top brands. I find this idea interesting for a couple of reasons. One being that I too have been in a black and white state of mind in relation to photography and recently created a photo montage on a blog post. Secondly, in a season of lush colors and excessive layering, black and white photography poses a complete opposite perspective on the trends of the season. I like that a designer is bold enough to shoot his colorful and textured collection in black and white. Of course, minimalism is nothing new to the scene and many of these collections share the same modern tone that Celine set several years back. Shooting in black and white certainly goes along with that trend.
For the Fall season, we see full black and white campaigns for over a dozen of our favorite brands. Other brands included black and white imagery in the mix of color which is a trend we have seen for the past several seasons. Here is a glimpse of what you are going to see in your upcoming September issues.
Can you guess which ad is my favorite?
