I HEART JOSHUA TREE
Last weekend I took a road trip to Joshua Tree with five of my girlfriends for a fun honky tonk desert party at Pappy and Harriet’s in Pioneertown. We rented an amazing house that rested on 400+ acres of land out in the middle of the desert. No kidding, we took four different dirt roads to get there.
Our views were spectacular and so was the folk festival at Pappy’s on Saturday which headlined one of my favorite bands, Chris Robinson Brotherhood. A friend of mine and I went to see him last year at the same venue, but this time the bands played outside which turned out to be a magical setting for the festivities.
I can’t explain to you how much I love Joshua Tree. The landscape is so unique to this area and is the only place that you can spot actual joshua trees. Mountains are made of boulders while the clouds tell stories in the sky. Hot nights with a cool desert wind are topped off with some of the most epic stargazing that I have ever witnessed.
Pappy and Harriet’s is one of the best venues that I have been to in California(it’s currently running a close tie with The Henry Miller Library in Big Sur). It is “The” place in town for live music and people go there from all over California and beyond. Everyone that you can imagine has played there at some point in their career and most musicians will always list it as one of their favorite places to perform. I completely understand why.
Here are some pics to try and tell the story of a magical weekend in the desert.
Don’t you want to go?
Many pictures were taken with Instagram and almost all were used with a Hipstamatic lens.
